IE Net Impact Club
Last weekend, the IE Net Impact club organized “Impact Weekend”, an event that brought students from IE Business School together with social entrepreneurs from across Spain. The event came about thanks to a collaboration between iWeekend, Ashoka and Aspen Institute, all forward thinking organizations dedicated to supporting social entrepreneurial projects around the globe. Also supporting the event was IE’s Venture Lab, the key body that promotes and develops disruptive and entrepreneurial ideas within the IE Community.
During the weekend-long event, 12 entrepreneurs pitched their ideas to a panel of judges. The winner was Tarifas Blancas, a web-based platform that seeks to provide millions of unemployed Spaniards with access to commercial initiatives to help address the economic needs of their families as well as provide them with a network to find employment opportunities. “Our dream is to save each unemployed Spaniard 1 euro per day”, stated Jesús. Expressing his satisfaction with the structure of the weekend’s activities, he added that “Impact Weekend was the turning point our project needed. The number of talented people that attended this event to support social entrepreneurship was incredibly motivating”.
Tarifas Blancas will now participate in the next IE Venture Lab, whose classes begin in September 2011.
